Marijuana Laws & Legislation for Addis Abeba
As of 2025, marijuana is illegal in Ethiopia for both recreational and medical use. The country has strict laws against cannabis use, and possession of marijuana is treated as a criminal offense, with severe penalties, including imprisonment. Cannabis cultivation is also prohibited, and individuals caught growing or trafficking marijuana face harsh legal consequences. The Ethiopian government has not taken any significant steps toward decriminalizing or legalizing cannabis, and the countryβs stance on marijuana remains conservative. Despite international discussions about cannabis legalization, Ethiopia maintains its prohibitionist approach, with no signs of marijuana reform on the horizon.
Please note that marijuana laws are subject to change. For the most current information, consult your countries official resources or legal counsel.
