Possession of greater than 1.4 grams in a motor vehicle (except in the trunk) is punishable by up to one year in prison.
Conditional discharge is a possibility for first time offenders.
Law enforcement: While marijuana is not quite legal yet the police have little concern for you or your fellow stoner. Their focus is mainly concentrated on irresponsible drunk drivers.
If caught with less than the standard 42.5 grams the usual punishment is just a slap on the wrist with confiscation and a warning but this depends on the officer; St. Paul tends to be a bit more conservative than Minneapolis and hands out more annoying possession tickets than their western twin. The typical less then 1.4 g’s while driving statute is also standard.
Any more than 42.5 and you’ll sit for a few days until a judge sentences you for hefty fine plus drug education/propaganda and possible community service. If greatly exceeding 42.5g, welcome to Minnesota for the next 30 days to 2 years, winter lasts from November to April so try not to get caught then.
Where to buy marijuana: Either one of the private universities on Grand Avenue. First try should be around the Macalester campus. It’s infamously liberal especially on 4/20 when students host an annual festival. The bud can be supreme with a wide variety for the conoisseur but there is also your sub par bistros. St. Thomas is similar in quality and same with anywhere else on Grand.
Downtown St. Paul is questionable and will most likely result in a “light” bag, while south of river can definitly provide when your in need but again eye the bag before you buy.
As always it’s basically all about knowing the right person. So stick to the college campuses, everyone smokes there or atleast knows someone who does. Minnesotans are nothing but nice if asked politely.
Marijuana prices: Usually kinda expensive for what you get. Bistros: $10 for a g, $20 half 8th $30/40 8th. Dank $20 a g, $30 for a half and $50/60 full 8th.
Marijuana brands: Mostly bistros. Though some primo bud such as white widow, rhinos, hazes, kushes, diesels, wrecks, AK-47, and northern lights can all be found with the right connection.
