Sofia, Bulgaria
Smoking tolerance level [1= very illegal 5=virtually legal]: 3
Legislation: Actually, it is illegal to possess any quantityof any scheduled drug. Also, there is no “permitted THC level”!.
Law Enforcement: Policemen are very corrupt. Offering a 20 Euro by a person recognised as a foreigner would probably get you into deeper trouble. Usually they will start asking for 1000 Euro or more and will agree to let one go for no less but 100-200 Eu. And offering money before one is asked to give is generally not a good idea. So the better suggestion would be: NEVER smoke outdoors, nor in a car!
Where to Buy Marijuana in Sofia: If u are lucky/stubborn enough u might eventually meet some young (or not_so_young) people in the central park for instance, the smell will connect you to them very soon!
Sofia Marijuana Prices: The choice of strains isn’t aways very wide – you could buy some high priced indoor sensi (skunk, kc33,nl#5, haze, shiva)
– around 10 EU per gramm – no leafs or seeds, usually really potent stuff !
The alternative is the cheaper, lower-qualty outdoor grown Ruderalis weed, which is fine if you you aren’t a hydro-indoor
-hash maniac. You could get yourself a dub sack full of some Ruderallis strain, grown in the western regions Bulgaria
(around Petrich and Blagoevgrad for instance) for the reasonable price of 1 up to 3 EU per gram.
Brands: If one is offered “holandets” (literally: Dutchman) or whatever variety, that doesn’t mean it’s the same as its name – just fine grade mj. And what is bred outdoors around Petrich or Blagoevgrad (actually: all over the country) has nothing to do with what you call “ruderalis” (unless you are ready to name a 4 meters plant “ruderalis”). Our native varieties would be rather classified as “indica-sativa” hybrids. However, local growers rarely use the indica-sativa dichotomy.
City Tale:
Sofia is Bulgaria’s capital as well as the largest city in the country. The population is above 1.5 mil citizens, most of which are narco-phobes unfortunatelly, but than again there are doctors and lawyers who toke on the good herb. Be carefull when searching for marijuana, unless u have some kind of trusted connection. If u can’t connect to your the dealer – get some legal Rakia drink instead (iBulgarian traditional grape scotch drink – very powerfull!) or maybe consider buying some Bulgarian MAVRUD red wine, both sold freely. Btw the “Mavrud” grape strain grows only on Bulgarian land, and is infamous for its superior quality – even French wineries can’t compete!

Also there is hash sometimes available on the market, but unlike most countries, Bulgarian stoners don’t consume that much hash (compared to others) and they rarely mix hash/weed/both with tobacco, so dont be surprised if you encounter prerolled cigarettes with nothing but weed on the inside. Hmm hash+weed is fine ..or just pure hash on the glass pipe! Yummy) – just a though.. As a non smoker I don’t seem to find any real use for the tobacco – its unnessesary for me, but even tobbaco smokers in here rarely mix their weed/ or hash with tobacco – i guess thats because there’s plenty of weed.No one uses roach-clips in here as well – we roll cigarettes with a paper folden filter ;like this – @; lol place for anyThe tobacco doesn’t seem to fit in – bad tobbaco taste messed u( i am a non smoker) Sofia city overall is really nice, the only negative side is the noticeable dirt in some places 🙁 If u plan on visiting Turkey or Greece or perhaps Romania than you might consider visiting Bulgaria as well – the capital Sofia or some cool big seaside town – Varna for instance. Unfortunatelly during the summer prices go up a little because of all the tourists, but but still, in Bulgaria prices are way lower when compared to out neighbours – Greece, Turkey or Romania.
