Legislation: Marijuana is legal only for medical use, with a doctor’s permit. In January 2003, a lower Ontario court ruled simple possession laws banning cannabis unconstitutional.
Law enforcement: Police may ticket you for possession, but will usually just throw your weed away and let you go. Generally, the police will not bother you unless they have received a complaint. Near the reserves on the outskirts on town it’s said that police even sell.
Where to buy marijuana: Wherever you go in Sault Ste. Marie you’e bound to see a fellow smoker, so it’s not difficult to find any in a time of need. Other than that, a few well known growers can be find scattered in and around the city.
Marijuana prices: $25-35 for an eigth, a half ounce is $90-110, an ounce is $185-200, a Quarter pound is $700 and a pound is $2000.
Marijuana brands: Many unclassified, mostly sativa. A large amount of cross breeds, and an especially strong crop late fall-early winter.
More information: In August of every year we have an annual Hempfest which draws a fairly nice sized crowd of people for 3-4 days. It includes concerts, contests, many vendors with incredibly low prices, and a guarantee of a hazey memory.
