Potomac, Maryland
Smoking tolerance level [1= very illegal 5=virtually legal]: 2
Legislation: The state of Maryland has medical marijuana laws enacted.
Possession or use of any amount of marijuana is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
For any second or subsequent conviction, the sentence may double from that for a first offense.
Law Enforcement: Police within Baltimore City are too busy with real crime to worry about pot. In my experience those caught with a small stash (under an oz.) within the city limits usually are let off scot-free, and often the officer doesn’t even bother confiscating the weed. Those caught with a large amount or who are caught dealing are often arrested.
The outlying suburbs in Howard, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Harford, and Baltimore Counties have their own police forces, and are less likely to tolerate any drug use. Also, not found in the city but around the suburbs, the Maryland State Police have a reputation for zero tolerance on drugs. If you are caught with pot, you will be arrested. But as long as you don’t advertize your weed smoking and use good judgement, you should be fine.
another reporter added: “Maryland is one of the strictest states in the country. It has a medical marijuana defense (used in court) but it is not on par with the laws of any of the other 10+ medical marijuana states. ” Maryland’s legislature passed a medical marijuana affirmative defense law in 2003. This law requires the court to consider a defendant’s use of medical marijuana to be a mitigating factor in marijuana-related state prosecution. If the patient, post-arrest, successfully makes the case at trial that his or her use of marijuana is one of medical necessity, then the maximum penalty allowed by law would be a $100 fine.” Source: http://www.norml.com/index.cfm?Group_ID=4542&wtm_view=medical”
Where to buy marijuana: Marijuana is easy to buy if you have connections. If you need to find a dealer, look for skaters and they will give you information.
Our latest reports tell us: Drive out to Darnestown or Seneca. The KFC/Taco Bell near Quince Orchard almost always has people around, but they’re usually pushing mids. Alternatively, get to know a dealer in the Potomac/Betheda area – it’s much easier, because the dealers never just “hang aroun” in Potomac, and the more local dealers always have better stuff. Weed in Potomac is/has been/will be the most expensive weed you will purchase – out of towners ALWAYS feel like they’re getting ripped off.
Marijuana prices: Some of the highest in the nation. When Potomac kids get out of the area to go to college, most are astounded at the comparatively lower prices of weed everywhere else in the country, and are shocked when they return home to the overpriced (though high quality) buds in the area.
For mids (increasingly rare, as most dealers in the area buy in bulk straight from the growers and want to make it worth their while): 15-20/g, 35-45/8th, 145-175/oz For headies (superdanks): 20-30/g, 65-100/8th, 250-600/oz (much more prevalent in Potomac)
Marijuana brands: Everything. People buy from growers all over the country and push around the Potomac area. Blueberries, Bubble Gum, Pacific Ambient Northern Lights, Afghani Kush, Cali Trainwreck, Sour Diesel, White Widow, Alaskan Thunderfuck You name it, it’s been through Potomac
More information: Being a pot smoker in Potomac is a big investment, but it’s well worth it for the quality buds in the area. And who doesn’t have money to burn in Potomac?
Be careful smoking in the Potomac Village area. Avenel security doesn’t really care, but MoCo Police are all over River, Falls, Bradley, and Oaklyn (to name a few). Your best bet is to smoke at your house/in your yard, in the woods, or to post up in a car in the back ends of random neighborhoods (the kind that you can never find your way out of). STAY OUT OF AVENEL PARK, AS WELL AS ANY SCHOOL IN POTOMAC. Police are in and out of those places all night.
