Legislation: Possession, delivery or sale of one-half ounce or less is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine up to $2,500.

Law enforcement: As long as you’re smart, you shouldn’t have any problems. I know plenty of people who smoke, but none of them have ever gotten in trouble with the law for it.

Where to buy marijuana: The Fort Sanders area is full of students from the University of Tennessee. Ask people who look like they may smoke. There are dealers everywhere. You just have to ask the right people. Look for people hanging out on their porches or outside apartment complexes. Don’t just ask if they know where to buy bud though. People don’t like being used.

For those who do not know anyone in Knoxville, I would suggest asking downtown. The bars and restaurants downtown have a bigger pot-smoking crowd than the bars near UT. On Market Square, check out World Grotto and Preservation Pub. In the Old City, check out Urban Bar, Barley’s, Old City Java, and Patrick Sullivan’s. There is also a new hookah bar on Gay St. called Mirage. I imagine this may be a good place to get to know someone.
