Legislation: Possession of under 500g of cannabis is punishable with 6 months to 2 years in prison, and/or a fine of around INR 100,000.
Law enforcement: Only 10% of those caught are actually convicted, and ‘baksheesh’ (bribe) will get you out of a sticky situation. Some cops may attempt to target foreigners purchasing weed.
Where to buy marijuana: Dhoolpet (or Dhulpet) is the main area for cannabis. It’s a mostly slum area, with lots of dealers in the alleys. The cops are after your wallet. Ask any local for where to find some ganja (or charas for hash), give them some cash, and they’ll show you the way. Other areas to score are Dilsukhnagar, Tolichowki, and near the YMCA at Secundrabad (this dealer has horrible weed).
Other have said: Marijuana is widely available in the twin cities , Dhoolpet being the most famous ,every locality has a spot of its own which the localities are familiar. Sitafalmandi is a good place to score ganja ,very safe and affordable
Marijuana prices: INR 100 for a tola (11.66 grams) of lows, INR 200 for mids, and around INR 500-700 for highs. Lows are the most common, with mids being rare, and highs being extremely rare. A gram of hash costs around Rs 100, although hash is hard to score. Good hash is extremely rare.
Marijuana is usually sold wrapped in papers for the denominations of 50.100 and 500 inr.
Brands: Most of the cannabis in Hyderabad is of low quality. A good brand is “bullet maal” in Dhoolpet. From the Araku Valley, it’s a mid grade brand, and is quite sticky.
More information: Rolling papers and blunts can be found in PVS paan mahal in Paradise (Secundrabad), and Dimmy’s paan palace in Sindhi colony.
