Frye Island, ME, Maine

Smoking tolerance level [1= very illegal 5=virtually legal]: 3.5

Legislation: Possession of less than 1.25 ounces is a civil violation, punishable by a fine of $200 – $400. Possession of 1.25 ounces or more is considered evidence of intent to distribute and is punished as such (see below).

Possession of a usable amount of marijuana is lawful if at the time of the possession the person has an authenticated copy of a medical record demonstrating that the person has a physician’s recommendation.

another reporter added: “Maine has had a medical marijuana law since late December, 1999: “Sixty-one percent of voters approved Question 2 on November 2, 1999. The law took effect on December 22, 1999. It removes state-level criminal penalties on the use, possession and cultivation of marijuana by patients who possess an oral or written “professional opinion” from their physician that he or she “might benefit from the medical use of marijuana.” Patients diagnosed with the following illnesses are afforded legal protection under this act: epilepsy and other disorders characterized by seizures; glaucoma; multiple sclerosis and other disorders characterized by muscle spasticity; and nausea or vomiting as a result of AIDS or cancer chemotherapy. Patients (or their primary caregivers) may legally possess no more than one and one-quarter ounces of usable marijuana, and may cultivate no more than six marijuana plants, of which no more than three may be mature. Those patients who poss

ess greater amounts of marijuana than allowed by law are afforded a “simple defense” to a charge of marijuana possession. The law does not establish a state-run patient registry.

AMENDMENTS: Yes. Senate Bill 611, which was signed into law on April 2, 2002, increases the amount of useable marijuana a person may possess from one and one-quarter ounces to two and one-half ounces.” Sources: http://www.norml.com/index.cfm?Group_ID=4541&wtm_view=medical and www.mainecommonsense.org”

Law enforcement: Warning… stay clear from the cops, they don’t get a lot to do out there so they will make things up… i suggest you don’t carry it in your car, only carry what you intend on using in th next few hours. make sure it is always under 1.25 ounces.

There are only Two cops that patrol the island, normally only one is on the island at any given time, they usually take the ferry back to the mainland at night and are not back until morning.

You can pretty much smoke anywhere and be safe, me and my friends smoke at the beach mostly but we’ll smoke on our front porch, in parking lots, or while driving around if we want to (i suggest you only do this at night after the cop has left the island though)… its safe… most of the islanders don’t care and in fact i heard stories of the police officer getting stoned with kids at long beach anyways.

Just be safe and don’t be stupid…

Where to buy marijuana: Ask ANY college student!

Ask around the General Store/Cafe or ask around long beach any summer night.

Marijuana prices: Weeds comes in from all different places so the prices are always changing.

Marijuana brands: Mostly ditch unless you know the right people.

But if you do know the right people you are going to be in heaven!

More information: Tips

1. On your way to the island stop in the Windham wake and bakery/glass emporium. It’s a super cool headshop, it doesn’t have much but it doubles as a restaurant plus the name has novelty and they have a super cool piece there called the chubbler (half chillum half bubbler)

2. If you’re daring take a leap off Frye’s Leap

3. Head down to long beach at night if your in search of a party.

4. Smoking on the beach is safe, just be smart and try not to be too obvious. (stay clear of old people (65 and above), they tend to be the anal ones)

5. If you’re a visitor or and rentor. Do not fuck with the islanders, your on a island with only one way off… a ferry and police/ medical help is far far away. But as long as your not a dick head youll be fine cause were all peaceful people.
