Legislation: Possession of less than 100 grams of marijuana is a citable offense only, with a fine of $100. Possession of 100 grams or more is punishable by a fine of up to $250. For possession of 200 grams or more, the penalty increases to a possible sentence of 6 months – one year in jail. Possession of 1,000 grams or more is punishable by 1 – 5 years in prison. Any possession of less than 5,000 grams does not carry the presumption of prison, which leaves available the possibility of probation. Possession of 5,000 grams of marijuana or more is punishable by 1 – 5 years in prison. For any amount or 20,000 grams or more the penalty increases to a mandatory minimum sentence of eight years in prison.

Ohio almost decriminalized personal use of reasonable amounts, except “Possession of paraphernalia is punishable by up to 30 days in jail and sale of paraphernalia is punishable by up to 90 days in jail.

For all drug convictions, including minor misdemeanors, the offender’s driver’s license is also suspended for a period of 6 months – 5 years. Professional licenses are also suspended.” source: You can read this PDF detailing the serious consequences they add on to the supposedly “minor misdemeanors”

“Under Ohio’s law, motorists with detectable levels of THC in the blood above 2 ng/ml or detectable levels of THC-COOH in the urine above 15 ng/ml are guilty of DUID. (Ohio Revised Code Annotated Section 4511.19, Amended by Senate Bill 8)

* If violated, a mandatory jail term of three consecutive days (seventy-two consecutive hours.) The court may sentence an offender to both an intervention program and a jail term. The court may impose a jail term in addition to the three-day mandatory jail term or intervention program. However, in no case shall the cumulative jail term imposed for the offense exceed six months.

* The court may suspend the execution of the three-day jail term under this division if the court, in lieu of that suspended term, places the offender under a community control sanction and requires the offender to attend, for three consecutive days, a drivers’ intervention program.

* License may be suspended from a definite period of six months to three years.”

Law Enforcement: Cops usually don’t do a search unless they smell it. Besides that there isn’t much surveillance, except at the stroudsburg mall. Stay away from there.

another reporter added: “if you’re under 30 cops WILL search you”

and:”The cops in Cleveland are mostly cool for the non-dealing smoker. mostly will just take the bud and send you away. most cleveland cops smoke weed thats why they take it.”

and also: “Depending on your attitude you can get anything from

a citation to having the cops make you crush it. If you dont have

identification on you then you can go to jail even if you only have a dime

Where to buy marijuana in Cleveland: In e. cleveland, near hough and e. 105st. just be cool and ask anybody that’s standing around. if you’re looking for kind bud you’d have to have connects. Just Keep in mind that east Cleveland is quite dangerous, so you may want to consider another spot.

For a safer approach try cleveland hts, places like coventry ,and ceder lee around 3:00, and even lakewood on the west side.

another reporter added: “DO NOT GO TO THE EAST SIDE OF CLEVELAND, if your skin is lighter than a mexican you will be shot at, it is very dangerous and stupid to even drive through. Best place to go is Lakewood, they have a couple of good headshops there so if the person looks like they smoke pot i guarantee that they do.”

and also: “E. 55 st is a hot spot for good bud. people around this part of town are not white! knowing someone is key but most dealers are friendly and just looking to make money.”

and also: ” Almost anywhere on the east side but if you are white and on the east side you are putting yourself in a very dangerous situation. You are just as likely to be the victim of a robbery as you are to get some weed. The near west side is also dangerous but not as bad.

Better to go to Lakewood on the west side or Cleveland Heights on the east side.”
