Portland, ME, Maine

Smoking tolerance level [1= very illegal 5=virtually legal]: 4.5

Legislation: Possession of less than 1.25 ounces is a civil violation, punishable by a fine of $200 – $400. Possession of 1.25 ounces or more is considered evidence of intent to distribute and is punished as such (see below).

Possession of a usable amount of marijuana is lawful if at the time of the possession the person has an authenticated copy of a medical record demonstrating that the person has a physician’s recommendation.

another reporter added: “Maine has had a medical marijuana law since late December, 1999: “Sixty-one percent of voters approved Question 2 on November 2, 1999. The law took effect on December 22, 1999. It removes state-level criminal penalties on the use, possession and cultivation of marijuana by patients who possess an oral or written “professional opinion” from their physician that he or she “might benefit from the medical use of marijuana.” Patients diagnosed with the following illnesses are afforded legal protection under this act: epilepsy and other disorders characterized by seizures; glaucoma; multiple sclerosis and other disorders characterized by muscle spasticity; and nausea or vomiting as a result of AIDS or cancer chemotherapy. Patients (or their primary caregivers) may legally possess no more than one and one-quarter ounces of usable marijuana, and may cultivate no more than six marijuana plants, of which no more than three may be mature. Those patients who poss

ess greater amounts of marijuana than allowed by law are afforded a “simple defense” to a charge of marijuana possession. The law does not establish a state-run patient registry.

AMENDMENTS: Yes. Senate Bill 611, which was signed into law on April 2, 2002, increases the amount of useable marijuana a person may possess from one and one-quarter ounces to two and one-half ounces.” Sources: http://www.norml.com/index.cfm?Group_ID=4541&wtm_view=medical and www.mainecommonsense.org”

Law Enforcement: If you are discreet you have nothing to worry about. You cannot toke up while walking down main street, but we do it everday driving down it! In portland the cops are pretty busy and don’t pull over too many people. If you go to the suburbs like Scarborough or Falmouth carry your licencse and registration in your hand.

Where to buy marijuana in Portland : If it is during the school year, go to the University of Southern Maine and hang out in the campus center. If it’s nightime or summer go down to the old port. Exhange street and Tommys park always has good dope. There are a lot of bars to choose from. Find one that fits your age and lifestyle and you will find your stoner friends inside. Ask the staff- discretly.

Brands: We used to have a selction in Maine. Now it is all very very high quality. It takes effort to find bud that are cheap and have seeds. Not that anyone wants that anyway…

Portalnd Marijuana Prices:

1/8= 40-50

1/4= 75-80

1/2- 140-160

More Information: Stoners are all over the state. If you go skiing you can usually find some at the resorts. Expect to pay more though. The staff knows you have nowhere else to shop around and they supplement their income selling to the tourists.

Law enforcement: Machias police are everywhere and it kinda sucks but thankfully they’re watching traffic with all their time so you can get away with alot. There’s a lot of secluded places anyway, and alot of nearby forest.

Where to buy marijuana: I recently started college here so naturally I’ve found it through friends at the college but even a random visitor could more than likely find it on campus in not too long. There are dry spells in the Winter time since most the roads become almost undriveable but I think the summer bears a harvest of blueberry flavored bud grown right in with the blueberry crops of thel ocal farms… all that is gone by the time the school year starts though.

Marijuana prices: When I first got here the price was $25 an eigth for so mediocre quality indo but as time progresed the price shot up to $35 an eigth for what, as far as I can tell, is the same thing. Like I said there’s are dry spells up here so if you find a dealer during a dry spell there’s kinda no telling what the price will be. I haven’t seen it or smoked it but I’ve been quoted to have extended access to somewhat lower quality weed for an astounding $30-$50 an Oz.

More information: There’s a very sweet store called Main Street Discount that sells everything from dishes to hardware, but the cool part is that they sell a fairly comrehensive selection of blunt wraps in packs of four for just $.95 + they never ever card. But if you’re in the area I suggest the “Wild Blueberry” KingPins. they’re the best and theyk inda go with the area.

Houlton, ME, Maine

Smoking tolerance level [1= very illegal 5=virtually legal]: 4

Legislation: As you travel further north in Maine you will notice the lack of a true population until you start getting close to Canada, this is where houlton sits, the people are pretty laid back and honestly only care about working, so just don’t step on any toes and you should be fine in this city.

You also have to remember that Maine has a medicinal marijuana law that only distributes a fine for having less than 1.25 OZ on your person,.

Law enforcement:Houlton does not have a town police station, however they do have the 2nd largest state police station in the state, and there is always border patrol (they wont bother you as long as you aren’t carrying enough to be considered trafficking) The state police are pretty lax, I have actually smoked with one officer,.. But really just don’t be dumb about it and they should let you be.

Where to buy marijuana:Buying pot in Houlton is interesting, as usual it is best to know someone in the area, but if you don’t your best bet is downtown, wonder downtown around the University of Maine campus and around the movie theater, there are a good bit of young college students who would most likely know someone who knows someone at the very least.

Marijuana prices:Bud in Maine ranges really it depends on what you are looking for and who you know. There is an abundance of green bud here, almost all of the stoner kids who leave for college during the fall and winter, grow pot during the spring and summer, so you will find a good deal of green bud for cheap come late summer early fall…

Dirt/Schwagg- Don’t bother it comes all the way from Mexico and is not even worth it here

Mids-25 1/8- 50-1/4- 75 or 80 per half

Greenbud- 35 1/8 and up the scale

Danks/known strains- 40 1/8 and up the scale

Marijuana brands:There is a good amount of BC bud, as well as Northern Lights, there is a good amount of white widow, and a little snow white, Maine smokers are pretty picky about what they are smoking so you will find some pretty good pot if you look. generally a couple people pushing bunk haze (just bud that got frost bitten) so look out for that, if you are looking for real haze you will most likely have to know what it looks like.

More information:Houlton is a nice city where everyone local knows almost everyone else, but no one really minds outside of their business. So finding a connection shouldn’t be that hard. look out for the courthouse downtown, and the prison downtown as far as people go, but other than that enjoy the brick buildings and small specialty shops downtown, also stop by Houlton Farms Dairy for possibly the best ma and pop ice cream shop in the US.

Law enforcement: Warning… stay clear from the cops, they don’t get a lot to do out there so they will make things up… i suggest you don’t carry it in your car, only carry what you intend on using in th next few hours. make sure it is always under 1.25 ounces.

There are only Two cops that patrol the island, normally only one is on the island at any given time, they usually take the ferry back to the mainland at night and are not back until morning.

You can pretty much smoke anywhere and be safe, me and my friends smoke at the beach mostly but we’ll smoke on our front porch, in parking lots, or while driving around if we want to (i suggest you only do this at night after the cop has left the island though)… its safe… most of the islanders don’t care and in fact i heard stories of the police officer getting stoned with kids at long beach anyways.

Just be safe and don’t be stupid…

Where to buy marijuana: Ask ANY college student!

Ask around the General Store/Cafe or ask around long beach any summer night.

Marijuana prices: Weeds comes in from all different places so the prices are always changing.

Marijuana brands: Mostly ditch unless you know the right people.

But if you do know the right people you are going to be in heaven!

More information: Tips

1. On your way to the island stop in the Windham wake and bakery/glass emporium. It’s a super cool headshop, it doesn’t have much but it doubles as a restaurant plus the name has novelty and they have a super cool piece there called the chubbler (half chillum half bubbler)

2. If you’re daring take a leap off Frye’s Leap

3. Head down to long beach at night if your in search of a party.

4. Smoking on the beach is safe, just be smart and try not to be too obvious. (stay clear of old people (65 and above), they tend to be the anal ones)

5. If you’re a visitor or and rentor. Do not fuck with the islanders, your on a island with only one way off… a ferry and police/ medical help is far far away. But as long as your not a dick head youll be fine cause were all peaceful people.

Farmington, ME, Maine

Smoking tolerance level [1= very illegal 5=virtually legal]: 4.5

Legislation: Possession of less than 1.25 ounces is a civil violation, punishable by a fine of $200 – $400. Possession of 1.25 ounces or more is considered evidence of intent to distribute and is punished as such. Possession of a usable amount of marijuana is lawful if at the time of the possession the person has an authenticated copy of a medical record demonstrating that the person has a physician’s recommendation. Cultivation of five plants or less of marijuana is punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. For greater than five plants, the penalties increase to up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000. For greater than 100 plants the possible punishment is up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. For any amount of plants greater than 500, the penalties increase to up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000. The penalty for sale of marijuana is up to one year in jail and a fine up to $2,000. The penalties increase to up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 if the sale was made to a minor or if it occurred within 1,000 feet of a school or on a school bus. Possession of greater than one pound of marijuana is considered trafficking and is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.

Law enforcement: The cops here don’t seem to really care much, this is a liberal college town in semi-rural Maine, lots of hippy types here. If caught usualy they will take your bag or dump it out and give you a slap on the wrist, thats the local cops, then you have campus police, I have not heard of anyone getting caught by campus police but I assume they would be a bit less forgiving as they are employed by the University. Then of course you have the Staties (state police) the older ones are much nicer and laid back then the younger ones, but I think generally everywhere the cops fresh out of the academy are more likely to give you a hard time. But around here we don’t worry much about being caught.

Where to buy marijuana: Well there are a lot of dealers around as this is a college town, so there is also a large variety of bud. A lot of it is junk however. To find good bud here you just need to do some networking and you will usualy be finding yourself buying from a local. However if you’d like to take the lazy approach to finding weed you can head down to the Sandy river and hang around the older railroad bridge or small beaches and eventualy someone “will” show up and light up, from there you begin to network. Other then that you can just ask around, it’s not likley you will get in any trouble. If your around in the fall you can even hit up the local.

Harvest fest and get many different varieties.

Marijuana prices: $25 – 1/8 dry, weak, seedy, stemmy, dirty weed.

*JUNK*

$40 – 1/8 good, fresh, sticky, sweet smelling/tasting, Maine green bud. *mmm

good*

Marijuana brands: If your here in the fall check out Harvest Fest which is like grocery shopping for marijuana!

More information: Liberal, laid back, hippy college town in semi-rural Maine. Easy to find bud, easy to smoke bud, minimal chances of being busted. Local head shop has some great items.

Remember the cops are your friends; if caught treat them with respect and they should let you go. Carrabassett Valley, ME, Maine

Smoking tolerance level [1= very illegal 5=virtually legal]: 5

Legislation: Ahh Carrabassett, one of the hidden gems of the state of Maine, this town/group of towns, sits right in the western mountains of Maine, the people here are just like you, they are just looking to have a good time, there is nothing really for lawmaking it is more or less take care of yourself and you will be fine.

Law enforcement: Nearly non existent, there is no town police, no county police, and the nearest state police station is nearly an hour drive east. There is however a few border patrol cars that swing through on their way to Canada. But really its rare to see a cop car in the area.

Where to buy marijuana: Well this is the thing, this area is amazing, over half of the people I have met while staying here over the summers and winter, smoke pot, many of the towns people are nothing more than an old hippie or old ski bum or snowboarder… there are many local bars, mostly around the ski resort (Sugarloaf) but as you head west into Stratton and the neighboring towns you will find small hometown bars where you can ask just about anyone, just buy them a drink and dont act too touristy. Go on the mountain if it is winter, ask some kids who you see hiking into the woods in a small group, they are most likely going to burn.

Marijuana prices: Prices here differ, they go up in the winter because Sugarloaf is a massive resort so you see a lot of people jacking the prices try to find one guy and stick with him he will most likely hook you up with the normal prices as they tend to charge tourists a little more.

$25-low dont bother with this there is plenty of green bud going for only 30-35 an 1/8 high quality beasters are going for 40 if you pay more than 40 an 8th in Maine for anything you are getting ripped off so keep that in mind.

Marijuana brands: A plethora of green bud, mostly BC’s and Northern Lights, but you get a good white strain and a true purple strain every now and again. All of the old hippies in this area grow their own stuff, they also take really good care of their stuff so you can find good bud for cheap here.

More information: Sugarloaf, 1 ft of powder, 5 star resorts, 5 star restaurants, 10 bars in a 5 mile radius, and a bunch of god pot, you cant go wrong with carrabassett valley.

If they don’t just get revenge, torch a few cruisers or something to that extent….Go ahead and reenact a real Steven King moment.

Where to buy marijuana in Bangor : Just ask around, marijuana or so called trees are easy to be found. Some of the guaranteed spots would be at the bus terminal, at one of the local colleges, the YMCA , or just ask people coming out of one of the city smokeshops. If you are looking for the finer strains of meritable quality then expect to pay a lot more, generally the trendy crowds who are into smoking premium buds can be found downtown, or in and around the wharf area. All of your accessories including glass pipes, rolling papers, screens, grinders, and other novelty items can be found at the downtown headshop which is open until late in the evening. There is a large neon 4:20 sign in the window, so you just can’t miss it.

Brands: The list of marijuana strains in this town is extensive. If you’re looking for sativa then durban poison, white widow, or silver haze are good picks, if you prefer the indica variety try G-13 for its hallucinogenic nature. One of my personal favorites is blueberry bud; nice and trippy with a very strong up high. Expect to pay heavily for the really good shit, and don’t forget to inspect the quality of the merchandise before commiting yourself to a certain price.

Portalnd Marijuana Prices:

All prices reflect High Times: THMQ report

Low-grades: Don’t waste your hard earned cash.

Mid-grades: will cost between $120-200 an ounce.

Kind bud/ Haze: leans more towards $260-400 an ounce

Hash: One hit shit is expensive and is usually sold by the gram in amounts upwards of $30

More Information: Bangor is quickly becoming a vogue place to smoke up for its secluded location, yet quick proximity to high class restaurants, urban specialty stores, and trendy outdoor cafe’s. Here you will discover a wide range of things to do. One of my favorites being a stroll through Cascade Park, which features a waterfall and great views of the penobscot river. Travel north to discover empty highways of natural beauty, or south along Maine’s ocean coast. Wherever you choose to travel don’t forget to abide by the rules of dope smoking etiquette….take two and pass it.

Bar Harbor, ME, Maine

Smoking tolerance level [1= very illegal 5=virtually legal]: 4

Legislation:

Law enforcement: Park Rangers do walk around in Acadia National Park, but they never go off the beaten path, so they’re easy to avoid. There is no crime in Bar Harbor, so there are a lot of idle cops wandering around at all times, so watch out for them or they’ll give you trouble. Also the town is 90% tourists in the summer, so don’t worry about anyone not in a police uniform.

Where to buy marijuana: In the summertime, you can always find weed in the Village Green, which is located in the middle of downtown. There is a stone bench at the very end of the Village Green where stoners always hang out. You can also try the shore path where stoners usually go to toke up. In the winter the town is virtually abandoned, but you can still find weed on the College campus, which is a notorious hippy college (3/4 of the students will have dreads).

Marijuana prices: Mersh: 25-35 = 1/8

B.C: 35-40 = 1/8

Other: 45-50 =1/8

Marijuana brands: Most weed in Bar Harbor is shitty mersh, so you have to either know someone, or look hard to get any decent bud. B.C. is the most common of these, withother rare strands circulating every now and then.

More information: Bar Harbor is inside Acadia National Park, which was rated one of the top 5 places to smoke in the country, so go on a hike and have some fun.

Belfast, ME, Maine

Smoking tolerance level [1= very illegal 5=virtually legal]: 3.5

Legislation: anything under an ounce is a misdemeanor. over that and you’re fucked.

Law enforcement: sparse and unpredictable. small town cops. sometimes they’ll take your stuff and tell you to leave, sometimes they’ll write a ticket, sometimes they’ll take you downtown.

Where to buy marijuana: this is rural maine. go down to the skate-park and ask around. the locals are pretty laid back, but having a connection is much, much better.

Marijuana prices: mersh (seedy, stemmy, dry brick shit) 20-30 1/8th

150-200 an O

Marijuana brands: white widow, sweet island skunk, grapefruit, you name it we grow it

More information: this is a semi-large town in rural maine. Population 7000 or so. GREAT weed if you can find it though most people seem to stick to mersh. pretty easy to find and low chance of a rip-off. walk through the woods and smoke a j, nobody’ll bother you. belfast has sort of an artsy-hippy vibe going on so most young people smoke and most old people used to. great deals around harvest season (late september-early november). check out harvest fest on the carson hill rd in harmony. it’s a giant festival, tons of bud, tons of music, and kick ass people from all over.
